Serena Oberstein

Serena Oberstein was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. A lifelong public servant, nonprofit leader, and mom, she’s always believed government only works when its leaders lead with integrity. That belief guided her work on the Los Angeles City Ethics Commission, where she served as both President and Vice President from 2014 to 2018.
Serena has built a career at the intersection of public service, policy, and purpose - working in government, on campaigns, and in the nonprofit world to bring people together and drive systemic change. Her focus has long been on civil and human rights, including equitable education, healthcare access, and upward mobility. She currently serves as an Executive Advisor at 10th Street Strategies, consulting with mission-driven foundations and nonprofits.
Previously, Serena was Executive Director of Jewish World Watch, where she helped pass policy at all levels of government by forging diverse coalitions to address genocide and mass atrocities around the world. She previously served as COO of Vision to Learn, a national nonprofit delivering free eye exams and glasses to students in low-income communities, and earlier worked in the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office as a policy analyst and neighborhood liaison.
She holds a Master of Public Administration from NYU Wagner and a B.A. from the University of California, San Diego. Serena lives in the San Fernando Valley with her husband, their daughters, and their dog.
