Oscar Hernandez

Oscar Hernandez serves as a Senior Human Relations Consultant with the County of Los Angeles Human Relations Commission. His work includes supporting the design and delivery of customized training to groups such as community interventionists, housing managers, criminal justice professionals, government workers, young adults, and human services volunteers. He helps facilitate training on a variety of topics, including cultural competence; diversity, equity, and inclusion; managing the influence of bias; what prejudice is, how it works, and what we can do about it; constructive candid conversations; the history of racism and “race”; positive conflict resolution; building and maintaining trust; leadership; collaboration; assessing equity impact of policies and practices; and cultivating organizational culture to advance equity. 

Oscar is the son of a Salvadoran immigrant single mother who taught Oscar the values of social justice, equity, and respect for all human beings. Oscar is also a part-time Business Administration professor, teaching courses in Communications, Accounting, Business Applications, and Statistics. Oscar possesses a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s in public administration from California State University, Northridge. Oscar is passionate about education and making a positive impact in the community as a social service practitioner.
