Deysy Donis-Santos

As manager of LA vs Hate, Deysy Donis-Santos leads the team of staff and partners in operating the system that provides a safe way for people to report hate, services for those targeted, and ongoing community-building events and activities to strengthen solidarity and unite people in the fight against hate. A graduate of UC Santa Cruz, Deysy came to the Commission staff team after nearly 15 years with LifeSTEPS, Inc. where she supervised planning, design, and delivery of social services, case management, recreational activities, and community engagement and development in 73 affordable housing communities for seniors and families across Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego Counties, including 17 after-school programs. She established and maintained collaborative relationships with service providers and other key partners. Her work required mastery of relevant government regulations, organizational policies, and management of compliance. In addition, she planned, secured, and managed financial resources, including compliance with grant-funding obligations.
